Misunderstanding

On our 10 years of marriage, there's only one misunderstanding that I can recall. A little impossible but true. We always compromise, talk things over and not going to bed with misunderstandings.

I have just given birth to RJ then. Because RJ is the first grandchild on Rhonnel's side, my PIL were on our house every weekend. They were so happy to be with their first "apo" every week. I like it at first but after few months it started to piss me off. I had to cook something special every week and made sure that the house is clean because I don't want to hear negative comments from my PIL especially my mother in-law. In short I was obliged to do things even I was not in the mood. There were times also that we need to go the mall but can not leave the house because they are coming. I talked to Rhonnel and explained but he didn't know how to tell my in-laws. So the visits every week continued until I was fed up.

One weekend, when my PIL were about to visit us again, I left the house and went to the mall. I strolled and had window shopping the whole day. I was away for long hours from RJ for the very first time. When I came home that night, Rhonnel was drunk with RJ sleeping on his lap. RJ is wearing her underwear with the designs on the back (which was supposed to be in front). Rhonnel cried upon seeing me and told me that he talked to his parents and explained to my PIL that we have our own life now and that we want to spend weekends with just the three of us.

Yeah, I was so mean. I didn't understand that my PIL just wanted to be with RJ. Is it the "post partum" or was I narrow-minded? I don't know. All I know is, that was one thing that I regretted. I asked apology to Rhonnel and went to my PIL's house and patched things up with them.

Eating with Family and Friends

Eating is more fun if shared with family and friends even if it's just a pica-pica or a hearty meal. Today's Mommy Moments theme is "Yummy". I want to share with you pictures with my family and friends while eating.

Colic and Baby Gas

When RJ was still a baby, there were times that she was crying and screaming for extended periods without any apparent reason. I didn’t know what to do so I called and asked my mom. Mom said it was just a baby gas and taught me how to let RJ burp to ease the discomfort.

However, the loud and continuous crying and screaming continued. It frequently occurred early in the evening, just when me and my husband were very exhausted. RJ’s face often got flushed and her belly was prominent. Nothing I do seemed to offer her comfort. It was very distressing to me and of course RJ too. So we went to her pediatrician and learned that it was infant colic. The doctor said it may be because her gastrointestinal system was just learning to function and another possible reason was I am passing to her through breast milk the gas-producing foods that I eat.

According to the doctor, over feeding or feeding the baby with high sugar content or undiluted juices may just worsen the situation. And because I am breast feeding, I was advised to avoid milk products, caffeine and cruciferous vegetables.

Homeopathic gripe water can calm the irritation of baby caused by colic, infant gas, stomach pain, teething and reflux. It is 100% natural. It contains no alcohol, sugar, sodium bicarbonate and other ingredients that can be harmful to babies so parents are assured that there are no side effects at all.

Baby gas, infant colic and reflux should not be ignored. Babies suffering from irritation caused by gas should be given proper attention and care just like any other diseases. Parents play an important part in keeping our babies healthy physically as well as mentally so as to reinforce their development and growth continuously.

Mommy Moments - Sporty Day

It's Mommy Moments once again. A week had past and I didn't even notice it. I was sooo busy this week. Many blessings are coming my way and I want to grab them all. I am sorry if this post is quite late. I have been to RJ's school this morning. It's second reading of honors and though she didn't make it to top ten, she got an award for being the "most behave" in their class. I din't want to believe RJ when she said last night that she's the most behave because she's a very active child and she's talking all day when she's in the house. Most of the time Rhonnel is asking her if she's not getting tired.

Rj loves sports. She loves biking. Sometimes we go to the park and watch her biking for hours.
Swimming is RJ's favorite. She loves water so much that she's taking longer time in the bathroom than I do.Join us every week and share your children's photos at Mommy Moments.

I Do

October 29, 1999- I can't sleep. What is it like to be a wife? Will I get pregnant soon? Do I need to resign from work and be a full time wife and mom? So many questions bothering me that hardly put me to sleep. I was supposed to have a beauty rest for the following day I will walk down the aisle.

October 30, 1999- Got up at 4:00 a.m. Can't eat anything. I was so tensed and was anorexic that day. Waaah! I was afraid I am going to collapse in the church so I took a cup of coffee and 2 pieces of bread. Mom and I had home service for our pedicure, manicure, hair and make-up at 7:00 a.m.

9:00 a.m.- We were on our way to the church. I had mixed emotions, nervousness and extreme glee. I am going to be Mrs Dacio soon. Can I meet my husband's expectations?

10:00 a.m.- I was walking down the aisle while the choir was singing Regine Velasquez's song "Ikaw". My dad was teary eyed. My mom and mother in law were crying. It's our wedding day. Isn't everyone supposed to be happy?

I was about to cry too but I thought of my make-up. My eyeliner and my mascara will smudge so I just smiled. It was a short aisle but seemed I walked 50 meters because of those little steps I made. Near the altar at last! Rhonnel took my dad's hand and blessed then he took my hand from my dad's and we walked together to the altar.
Rhonnel said his vow:

Because of you,
My life has been bright
Only with you I can fulfill
The dream of life, one love,
One hope, one heart and one happiness.
I promise to be true to you.

Now and forever, we will stay hand in hand
till the end of time.

Then I said mine:

It was God given gift
When He made our path meet.
May I in turn give back the love you have for me,

Share with you the dreams I have,

Be at your side and give you comfort

And transverse life in whatever
direction it may take us,
Not only till death do us part

But till life after death.

We were united in a simple ceremony solemnized at Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace (popularly known as EDSA Shrine or Our Lady of EDSA). It was Saturday, the 30th of October, 1999 at 10:00 o'clock in the morning.

Reception followed at The China Pearl Restaurant, Robinson's Galleria, Ortigas Avenue wherein the 100 guests (supposedly 80) celebrated that special occasion with us.
Mrs. Dacio at last!

Now, no more questions and worries. I know we can surpass whatever comes our way as long as we are together.

Mommy Moments - Let's Pretend

It's Mommy Moments again. I missed last week's theme because of our intermittent internet connection. Grrr! Thank God, it's sunny today so we have a good connection. Our theme for this week is "Let's Pretend". I think all kids do love to pretend and make-believe. They love to imitate different characters especially those they like most.

Last Halloween, RJ pretended as black widow.
Look at her expressions. Oh my, she's good! Little kids were afraid of her and didn't want to be near her. She won 2nd prize for the scariest costume. Yeepee! Here, she was pretending as shampoo model.
Sometimes RJ is pretending as teacher, doctor, sales clerk and most of the time she's imitating me.

Join us every week at Mommy Moments.

10th Wedding Anniversary Celebration

We had a post celebration of our 10th wedding anniversary last November 1 at Club Manila East Taytay. We had so much fun especially RJ who is now tanned because of sunburn. We can't stop her from swimming even on meal time.

It was another fun-filled day and good bonding for us. Rhonnel and RJ had fun on the kayak.

The water is quite cold but it did not stop us from dipping and swimming.

For me, meal time is still the best. lol! I know, I know, I should be on a diet, but I can't help it. The food was good.

Club Manila East Taytay, Rizal is one of the biggest and best resorts we have visited so far. They have 8 water facilities including 2 wave pools. If you are planning to spend a day there, click here for a detailed guide.
